The Ugly Truth (Sorry Gerard Butler)

Although we would like to believe that health care opponents are just misinformed, and that they just mistakenly believe the lies that are tossed their way by their authoritarian leaders, there is something troubling about the continued racist tone to the protests.

The signs that the teabaggers carry constantly force us to ask the question, are they protesting health care, or the fact that a black man is in the White House?

It’s sad, really. They are frightened, manipulated citizens who believe that health care reform amounts to a “government-takeover of health care”. Little do they realize that there is no government take-over, that it will cut costs for small businesses and the middle class, and reduce the deficit by almost two trillion dollars, based on the CBO scoring of the bill.

But Republicans are most skilled at getting the middle and lower classes to vote against their own interests. This issue is no exception.
