Fox Nation Idiocracy

Fox News Revels in Playing Victim

Evidently, the mean old White House should be ashamed of itself for picking on little ol’ Fox News. Why, they’re just simple-minded people with a tendency to broadcast factually-challenged reports. Media Matters shows us why the White House might think that Fox News is not a news outfit at all:

Ummm… I don’t think that word “unprecedented” means what Fox News thinks it does.

Idiocracy

Function: noun

Etymology: Middle English, from Anglo-French ydiote, from Latin idiota ignorant person, + -cratie -cracy

Idiocracy is democracy gone wrong through idiocy. It is the unfortunate situation where the vote of a person ignorant of even the most basic of facts surrounding an issue or candidate counts exactly as much as the vote of someone who is well-informed about the specific issue or candidate.

In an idiocracy the vote of someone who says for example, “I won’t vote for Obama because I heard he is a known terrorist and doesn’t like Italian food” counts as much as the vote of someone who makes an effort to find out exactly where the presidential candidates stand on various issues. It’s democracy gone wrong through idiocy. Another example is “I won’t vote for McCain because I heard he has Alzheimers and has already spent time in a nursing home.”

from Idiocracy.

Why would I use a term like “Idiocracy” to describe the Fox Nation?  Consider the two bright, shining lights in Fox’s firmament.  Neither one of these men even graduated from college.  They have high school diplomas, and that’s it!

Here’s Wikipedia on Hannity:

“Hannity graduated in 1980 from St. Pius X Preparatory Seminary high school, located in Uniondale, New York. Hannity dropped out of New York University and Adelphi University.”

Here’s Wikipedia on Glenn Beck:

“Beck was admitted to a special program for non-traditional students at Yale University while he was working for a New Haven-area radio station, having received at least one of his recommendations from Senator Joe Lieberman. During this time Beck took a single theology class, dropping out around the time of his divorce.[5]

“Beck is a self-described recovering alcoholic and drug addict.[6] He also has a diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. [7] He and his first wife divorced amid his struggle with substance abuse. Beck cites the help of Alcoholics Anonymous in his sobriety, and he eventually converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,[8] which teaches against the consumption of alcohol.”

Of course, they are not alone.  Rush Limbaugh did not graduate from college either.

Think back, what great foundation of knowledge did you possess when you graduated from high school?  That’s right -- almost none.  Where else can you get hired and make big money with only a high school diploma, except for Fox News?
